Employee Spotlight on Judy Thomas

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED WITH CAP? I have worked with CAP since April 2006.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD ON THE ROAD? Fast food is Subway... sit down is Olive Garden
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB? The variety and changing venues
WHAT HOBBIES DO YOU ENJOY? Society for Creative Anachronism (Medival Recreation), ferret rescue and crotcheting
WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT INTERPRETING? Ignorant people who dont understand what we do.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH INTERPRETING? I needed a foreign language requirement in college and fell in love with the language.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WORKING FOR CAP? I love the people I work with. The office staff supports me and so do the other interpreters.
SHARE AN INTERPRETING BLOOPER. Getting a phone call for a person who's last name was clearly Spanish but is deaf. I automatically assumed that Mary had called the wrong interpreter.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A NEW INTERPRETER IN THE FIELD?
Try it all. Give it your best shot and be willing to make a mistake because we are not perfect.

Cap Updates
Dearest Members of CAP,
Thank you all so much for responding to our online survey. We got 100% participation. Furthermore, your feedback and suggestions will be considered in CAP's ongoing work. We would like to address a few suggestions brought up in the survey.
1) We had a suggestion for an in office video phone but we don't have anyone in the office would be able to use the video phone so we would have to hold off on that idea.
2) Someone suggested that the service forms be saved as PDF file in order for them to be e-mailed without the risk of the information being changed. That is a great idea and if you do not know how to do that please e-mail Carolina Price she can help you out with that, carojprice@gmail.com.
Also a friendly reminder that Renee has sent out a word friendly rendition of the service form, this will allow you all to complete the form online and e-mail it directly to either Debi or Renee. This will save you time and postage.
Thank you again and may we all have a happy, healthy and successful 2011.
Best Wishes,
The CAP Team
P.S. If you have the winning lottery numbers please forward them to Mary. :)
