New Employee Spotlight!!

Hello everyone!

My name is Rebecca Kirkman. I am a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Deaf Education with a concentration in Interpreting for the Deaf.

I first got interested in the interpreting profession while I was attending another college’s open house. They had an interpreter for one of their presentations and I was so fascinated that I watched them the whole time instead of listening to the speaker. That’s when I decided to pursue interpreting in college and as a career.
I am honored to become a member of the CAP team. They continue to be wonderful mentors and colleagues. I don’t think I could have asked for a more supportive, friendly, and professional group to work with.

As of right now I am planning on taking the written portion of the NIC before this summer and the performance and interview portion by the end of this year.

I also enjoy volunteering for Deaf-Blind events, such as, Camp Dogwood and the North Carolina Deaf-Blind Associates annual conference. These events are phenomenal! I am privileged to be able to take the time to get to know such an amazing group of people.
